“Where are my japanese husbands?” is the project about genders, sexual behavior in Japanese cultures.Which is inspired by my funny dream when I was young. At that time I have watched a lot of Japanese movies, animation and manga then I absorbed Japanese cultures and it became my dream that “I wanted to become a housewife of Japanese husband” But everything has changed, I grow up and get more educated then that dream just gone and have feminism idea instead. So, I decided to use this conflict in the project.
I research through making an interview with Japanese guys about what their ideals of ‘good women’. And then I took the answers as an inspiration to making my performance and text installation. By the way, I also use photography to present my ideal about ‘Japanese guys’ through this exhibition. Hopefully, It can reflect some though about genders, sexual behavior in Japanese cultures from both sides.
